THE LOCATION
Warburton is located 70 kilometres east of Melbourne, at the pristine headwaters of the Yarra River. An historic and character filled township, Warburton is renowned for its community spirit and spectacular mountain and river scenery. It is rapidly becoming one of Victoria's pre-eminent 'Tree Change' lifestyle destinations.
THE DEVELOPMENT
This expansive development includes a 184 suite, 5 star apartment hotel known as Edgewater Resort & Spa - incorporating an adaptive reuse of the original heritage listed Sanitarium Health Foods Weetbix factory.
The original factory is being renovated to include a Wine & Food Centre, Spa & Wellness Retreat, Retail, Interpretive Centre, Art Gallery, Pool & Gymnasium, Food & Beverage outlets, and what will be regional Victoria’s largest Meeting and Conference facilities.
An innovative re-use of the 23 metre high bank of former wheat silos will create a benchmark abseiling and rock climbing facility.
Two new apartment blocks are being built on absolute water frontage to the east and west of the existing Heritage Listed building and grounds. All will enjoy spectacular river and mountain views.
The Project has involved a complex series of purchases of Crown and privately owned land, as well as rezoning, planning & environmental issues.
The Group has been under constant scrutiny by the Victorian media and has had to pass a series of high level probity checks by both state and local government.
